In 2003, the On Demand Digital Printing & Publishing Strategy Conference and Exposition will be co-located with the AIIM conference and show, which serves enterprise content management and e-business professionals. The side-by-side events, expected to involve more than 500 exhibitors, 300,000 square feet of exhibit space, and some 40,000 attendees, are to be held April 7-10 in New York City.
Akiyama International Co., Ltd. is the name of a new company, formed by the Shanghai Electric Group of China and the Morningside Group to succeed the Akiyama Printing Machinery Manufacturing Corp., which will promote and market J Print perfector presses and Bestech model sheetfeds worldwide.
Edward H. Owen, a long-time industry writer and editor, died March 11 in Hollywood, Fla. at age 79. He is succeeded by his wife and professional colleague, Jane.
Dr.-Ing. Rudolf Hell, German inventor, engineer, and entrepreneur, died March 11 at the age of 100. Among his inventions were phototypesetters, color scanners, and engraving systems for rotogravure cylinders. The business he founded helped to form Linotype-Hell AG in 1990.
