Ernest A. Lindner, who over a half-century amassed a collection of antique presses, typesetting machines, and print production tools, died in California last fall at the age of 79. His collection, housed since 1988 in the International Printing Museum, Carson, Calif., includes an 1810 British Stanhope press, an 1824 Columbian hand press, and countless Linotype hot-metal linecasting machines and typesetting systems.
