Consolidated Buys American

HOUSTON—Consolidated Graphics, Inc. signed a letter of intent to acquire American Lithographers, Inc., Hayward, Calif., a division of Smurfit Packaging Corporation that bills annual sales of about $44 million. Terms were not disclosed.
American Lithographers, a commercial printing company offering sheetfed and web production, operates two facilities, in Hayward and Sacramento. Consolidated Graphics specializes in a national network of commercial printing companies; its annual revenues amount to $625 million.
