World's biggest graphic arts show in 2001 offers eight days of exhibits and events.

Staff -- graphic arts online, 8/1/2001

With only a few weeks before opening day, final preparations are being made by Print 01 exhibitor personnel, show organizers, domestic and international visitors, speakers and program moderators, and trade association professionals.

Print 01, the industry's biggest exposition taking place anywhere in the world this year, is expected to draw 75,000 visitors and some 850 exhibitors. Displays will occupy 900,000 net square feet of space on three levels of McCormick Place in Chicago.

A record 96 educational seminars, organized by Prof. Frank J. Romano of the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology, accompany the show. Seminars are offered in six categories: business, packaging/converting, prepublishing, production (best practices), desktop tools, and user/vendor panels.

Offered free to all attendees are three one-hour general sessions, set for 8:30 a.m—September 7: Industry Trends & Futures; September 10: The New Business of Printing; and September 11: Survivor—Where Will We Be by Print 06?

Participating in each of two Career Awareness Days (September 12 and 13) will be about 1,000 students from area high schools and vocational/technical schools.

Exhibitor pavilions will represent vendors from Canada, China, Germany, Latin America, and Taiwan.

Print 01 is managed by the Graphic Arts Show Company, which is owned by the National Association for Printing Leadership; NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies; and the Printing Industries of America.

For news coverage at the show, a tabloid-size official Show Daily newspaper will be published jointly by the editors of Graphic Arts Monthly, Converting Magazine, Packaging Digest, Graphic Design:usa, and Quick Print Products.
