  • IKON Renews Agreement with the University of Arizona

Solution streamlines managed printing services and fulfillment workflow throughout campus

Company Supplied -- Graphic Arts Online, November 4, 2009

MALVERN, Pa.--IKON Office Solutions, Inc., a Ricoh company, today announced that it has renewed its Document Production Strategic Alliance agreement with the University of Arizona. IKON will continue to provide hardware and software solutions for many of the school's 525 departments under the partnership. In addition, IKON will continue to provide fleet management services for the University through the use of a site-based fleet management program.
IKON's document management solutions will continue to maximize the University of Arizona's purchasing power, right size its printing fleet, and streamline document-related billing through the use of IKON's managed services. IKON will also continue to work with each University of Arizona department to assess its document management and production needs to help reduce document production expenses and improve employee productivity. IKON's full time, on-campus staff will continue to quickly respond to service inquiries, manage supply inventory and track equipment activity, utilizing IKON's award winning IKON Service ExcellenceSM methodology, which captures customer needs and translates them into innovative solutions using industry-leading technology and measurable service levels.
"In the last five years, IKON has created efficient document management solutions throughout the University of Arizona which have simplified our purchasing process, reduced our costs and helped us continue our mission as the leading public research university in the American Southwest," says Kirk Ketcham, Director of Procurement and Contracting Services, University of Arizona. "IKON has provided us with the expertise, solutions and support necessary to ensure that the University's many unique document production and management needs are being met."
IKON has also worked with various University of Arizona departments to help their productivity and reduce document management expenses. For example, the University's Facilities Management department had no common document management standards, and their facility blueprints, plans and related materials were stored several miles from the main campus. IKON thoroughly evaluated the department workflow and processes and created an electronic document management repository, where all the facility document materials were scanned and saved. "We are now able to pull up the needed documents instantly, and we can also page through the various plumbing, electrical and other infrastructure documents to see how each system relates to one another enabling us to come up with the right solution to the issue the first time," explains Roger Guzman, Design/Drafter Sr., University of Arizona.
"We needed a document management solution that would allow approved personnel to access this critical information across campus, especially if there was an emergency," said Marianne Deutsch, Staff Technician Sr., University of Arizona. "For example, if there was a flood in one of the buildings, or a security situation, we needed to be able to get critical building information to fire or police personnel quickly."
"We are pleased that the University of Arizona has renewed their agreement with IKON to continue to meet their enterprise document management needs," explains Mark Bottini, Vice President, U.S. Field Sales, IKON Office Solutions. "As a Ricoh company, IKON is a leader in managed services, and helps customers manage documents more effectively and drives improvements in productivity, collaboration and performance. We look forward to continuing our successful relationship with the University of Arizona."
