Océ Production Printing Systems executive joins elite group of industry leaders

Company Supplied -- Graphic Arts Online, October 28, 2009

October 28, 2009-Trumbull, CT- Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announced today that Malkon S. Baboyian, president of the Production Printing Systems division of Océ North America, has been named to the Board of Directors of NPES, The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies.

"The NPES Board focuses on the strategy and direction for the premier association representing graphic communications industry suppliers," explained Ralph J. Nappi, president of NPES. "The contribution of these new directors, as well as our returning directors, will ensure that NPES serves our industry in an innovative and responsive way. Mal Baboyian has worked for many years in support of the graphic arts industry, and we are proud to have him as a member of our governing board."

NPES is a U.S. trade association representing more than 400 companies that manufacture and distribute equipment, software and supplies used across the workflow of nearly every printing, publishing and converting process. Virtually all industry products and processes are represented by the member companies, which range from under $1 million in annual sales revenue to more than $1 billion. NPES is a co-sponsor of PRINT, PackPrint and GRAPH EXPOâ-the largest and most comprehensive prepress, printing converting, package printing, binding and finishing, mailing and fulfillment, and offset and digital equipment trade show and conference in the Americas.

"With this honor, Océ expands its support for NPES, including involvement in the PRIMIR (Print Industries Market Information and Research) organization and strategic representation on the NPES Board of Directors. To facilitate the offset-to-digital transformation occurring within our industry, Océ is fully committed to leveraging our leadership in digital printing, and sharing our insight and experience with our industry peers. Océ has already established a broad and powerful line up of ink jet solutions to help customers transform their businesses. Now, as a member of the NPES Board of Directors, Océ can contribute at a strategic level," said Mr. Baboyian.

In December 2003, Mr. Baboyian was named president of Océ North America Production Printing Systems (PPS), the largest division of Océ North America. It provides digital document management solutions covering a wide range of environments including the office, central reproduction departments, data centers and commercial printing operations. Mr. Baboyian is responsible for the strategic direction and results of the PPS sales and marketing teams.

Mr. Baboyian joined Océ in 1976 as a District Sales Manager for Océ Industries, the predecessor to Océ North America. In 1990, he was named Group Vice President of Design Engineering, now the Wide Format Printing Systems division. In 1998, Mr. Baboyian's responsibilities expanded to include the Imaging Supplies business unit. He became Chief Executive Officer of Océ-USA, Inc. in 2000, responsible for all business activities for the full line of Wide Format and Display Graphics equipment, software and services and imaging supplies products. Confirming his leadership role in the market, he was recognized with the IRgA Lifetime Achievement Award for his efforts in furthering the growth of the industry and the IRgA organization.
