FetterGroup. Louisville, KY, will open a 12,000-sq.ft. digital printing, bindery, fulfillment and distribution facility in Reno, NV. The move will provide Fetter with convenient access to California and the western U.S. The plant, scheduled for full production start up in few weeks, will initially employ three and a number of temporary workers, reports a local business journal.
FetterGroup, founded in 1888, employs 130 across two divisions: FetterLabel-prints paint and coating labels-and FetterCMD-manages content and fulfills perishable marketing materials for the healthcare insurance industries. The company expects 2010 sales to increase by more than 20%.
"Our healthcare marketing division is the main contributor to our record growth this year," CEO and president Terry Gill says. "We see this trend continuing into 2010 and beyond. Our consumer packaged goods division also stands to benefit from this expansion with access to the West Coast wine markets and improved distribution across the country."
The company exited the commercial printing market in 2006 to pursue labels and customized sales materials for specific markets.
FetterGroup spent $700,000 in 2009 to purchase an HP Indigo 3500 digital press, an 8-pocket high-speed collation device, an MBO 8-page folder and a Stahl B26 2640 16-page continuous feed folder, and a Heidelberg/Polar DCM System automated diecutter with in-line auto banding. For next year, the firm has budgeted an additional $2 million for infrastructure growth.
The company also hired five new employees in 2009 and plans to add three to five more workers by year's end.
