Valassis Cuts LA Times Out of Insert Delivery
Declining circulation drives Valassis to move its Los Angeles circulars from the LA Times to USPS

Insert printing giant Valassis, Livonia, MI, will move the distribution of its RedPlum package of coupons, circulars and other savings vehicles from Tribune Cos.' Los Angeles Times and into the U.S mail, starting next week. RedPlum inserts will still be included in the Times area competitor, the Los Angeles Newspaper Group

The move is part of the firm's strategy to move newspaper-delivered coupon inserts to shared mailer packets and online presentation.
In March, Valassis made similar moves in newspapers throughout
Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Utah, Virginia, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Maryland, and Texas. The distribution shift is in response to declining newspaper circulation.
