  • Web Takes On Sheetfed

By Lisa Cross -- Graphic Arts Online, July 1, 2008

New Jersey Business Forms completed a three-year, $5-million pressroom and bindery modernization project for its Englewood, NJ location, to make the web printer more competitive with 40´´ commercial and direct mail sheetfed competitors.

Investments included a second, 16-color, Muller Martini Concepta variable repeat UV web press, delivering to a 50´´ rewind or half-web size sheeting capability. Two MBO folding lines with inline Palamides paper bundlers and other bindery enhancements complemented the purchase.

“The productivity of the latest web-offset press technology and its CIP3 workflow capability offers low waste and higher productivity,” says David Harnett, manufacturing VP, “rendering lower costs to the trade customers.” He says the investment enables the company to compete with the traditional 40´´ sheetfed market and gain new business from new sources previously not available.

In January, the firm added an 8-color Muller Martini Concepta press—configured with interstation UV lamps, inline register control and JDF compliance—and two Muller Martini right-angle folders with inline bundling capability.
