28th October 2008 --Press Release--Following its contract with Associated Newspapers signed earlier this year, Newsworld Corporation has formalised an agreement with a printer for the production of the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday in New York. AlphaGraphics, which is based in New Jersey, will begin production of the titles in January 2009.
Newsworld has invested in a Screen Truepress Jet520 On-Demand Newsprint Solution with a dedicated Hunkeler finishing system which will be installed at AlphaGraphics’ facilities in December this year. David Renouf of Newsworld says: “On the back of our contract with Associated Newspapers and with the increasing levels of interest we continue to receive from publishers, we are delighted to be partnering with AlphaGraphics, a best-in-class organisation offering second-to-none levels of quality and service. Similarly, we have taken the necessary steps to invest in the appropriate technology to ensure the requirements of our existing and future clients can be met.”
AlphaGraphics plans, produces and manages visual communications for businesses at more than 260 owner-operated, locally-based business centres worldwide. Backed by state-of-the-art technology, the world’s highest quality standards and a global network, the company’s trained and experienced team members are committed to delivering creative solutions that allow customers to communicate more confidently and effectively.
David Kovacs of AlphaGraphics added: “Newsworld and AlphaGraphics could not be a better match for this partnership. We are both focused on leading the market by servicing client’s needs with technology and customer focused solutions. I am sure others will be watching with anticipation to see where we are able to take this venture. Marrying Newsworld’s vision and experience with our operational excellence was too good an opportunity to pass up.”
The Screen Truepress Jet520 features two print engines and produces complete newspapers with perfect colour and a quality level that is indistinguishable from litho printing. The system prints at 128m/min, the equivalent of 1,200 48-page tabloid newspapers an hour. The Truepress Jet520 is proving a very flexible machine with newspapers now being added to long list of applications including transactional printing, direct mail, books and form printing.
“This announcement marks the successful culmination of over two years work and is a significant development within the newspaper sector as a whole,” says Brian Forsdike, President, Screen Europe. “Remote newspaper production on the day of publication means that both tourists and business travellers can keep in touch with what is happening at home through the medium they know best. The Truepress Jet520 allows publishers to reproduce a complete facsimile of their title in full colour in the quantities that are required anywhere in the world.”
