PRESS RELEASE: Brilliant Graphics Earns FSC Certification

Exton, Pa. – Brilliant Graphics joins a select group of printers nationwide by earning the Forest Stewardship Council’s (FSC) chain-of-custody certification. The certification was awarded by SGS, an independent auditor for the FSC, and entitles Brilliant to use the FSC logo on its products. The FSC logo helps consumers worldwide recognize organizations and products that support responsible forest management.
The FSC model of certification is unique because it links the entire forest-product supply stream through a chain-of-custody system – from an FSC-certified forest through processing, manufacturing, distribution and printing to the end consumer. By tracking the chain of custody, any FSC-labeled product can be traced back to a certified source.
Attaining FSC certification is the latest step in Brilliant’s ongoing efforts to follow environmentally sound business practices. As an FSC-certified printer, every Brilliant FSC job must meet special requirements throughout the entire printing process. Not only must it be printed on FSC-certified paper, but at no point can it be mixed or combined with non-certified material. Brilliant employees are trained in FSC protocol, and paperwork is maintained at all levels of production to prove the chain of custody.

FSC is an international, not-for-profit organization that promotes stewardship of the world’s forests. It has created a respected system of guidelines for responsible forest management and an accreditation program conducted by a network of independent auditors. An FSC-certified forest is managed according to strict environmental, social and economic standards.
The U.S. is the largest market in the world for paper products, according to the FSC. It produces 90 million tons of paper annually and consumes about 100 million tons. While recycling paper reduces the need for virgin timber, only 35% of current consumption is met by using recycled fiber. By upholding FSC standards, companies can help sustain forests worldwide.
