By Graphic Arts Online Staff -- Graphic Arts Online, October 1, 2008
Bill and statement printer Emdeon, Nashville,
acquired the bulk printing and mailing services
of GE Healthcare Information Technology. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. About 400 hospitals and physician groups receive printed statements, invoices, claims and appointment reminders through the service.
The acquisition strengthens Emdeon’s position as a preferred vendor partner for GE Healthcare's IT business. GE customers will have access to Emdeon's suite of integrated print and electronic patient billing services, return mail management and other patient communications.
Last month, Emdeon applied to raise up to $460 million with initial public offering of stock. It is owned by General Atlantic Hellman & Friedman LLC private equity investment firms. Emdeon handles document mail services, mail merge, produces insurance cards, financial statements, tax bills and the like. Based in the United Kingdom, GE Healthcare is a $17 billion unit of General Electric Co.
