  • JB Offset Selects Goss Community SSC Press

By Graphic Arts Online Staff -- Graphic Arts Online, November 18, 2008

WESTWOOD, NJ, (Press Release), November 18th, 2008 – Based in New Jersey, U.S.A., Italian language newspaper printer JB Offset has signed an order with Goss International for a new 21-unit Goss Community SSC press. The press will be installed in early 2009 and will increase productivity and print capacity at the plant.
Operating at maximum speeds of 35,000 copies per hour, the new press will be configured as three four-high towers and three three-high towers with a 578 mm cut-off. Goss International will also supply two N40 folders. Capable of printing up to a 96-page tabloid, with two separate mastheads, the press will improve overall capacity by 85 percent, and eliminate the need for postpress insertion.
JB Offset has recently acquired a new 40,000 square foot facility to house the new Goss press, and its offices. Managing director Domenico Delli Carpini comments, “We print two daily newspapers for Italian speakers in the U.S.: America Oggi, and La Repubblica. We expect to see the color quality of these publications improve and also production times decrease significantly with the superior quality and high productivity provided by the new Goss Community SSC press. We also do the printing for many local newspapers, and we will have the additional capacity to add new commercial printing customers.”
“JB Offset has been a valued Goss press user since 1963, and we are very pleased to have earned their business for this exciting new press project,” states Bruce Barna, Goss International regional sales manager. “The new Goss N40 12-web folder was modified for JB Offset to produce the 17-inch La Repubblica tabloid, nestled into the 14-inch tall America Oggi tabloid, creating up to a 96-page tabloid-size product, with two mastheads in one pass, eliminating costly and time consuming postpress inserting,” adds Barna.
