Hundreds of the printing industry’s top executives gathered at a posh banquet to honor more than 100 winners in the Printing Industries of America’s Premier Print Awards. Print’s big night, known as the "Oscars" of the printing industry, was held at the lavish Chicago Marriott during Graph Expo®.
Printers from North America, Brazil, China, Ecuador, Hong Kong, Mexico, and South Africa were among the winners, receiving a bronze statue in the shape of Ben Franklin, referred to as a "Benny."
The Premier Print Awards, now in its 59th year, is the printing industry’s oldest and largest worldwide graphic arts competition. The annual contest recognizes excellence in print communications and rewards companies and individuals who produce the very best in print media.
The 2008 competition received more than 4,000 entries from 12 countries, of which a little less than 2% received a Benny.
Sponsors of this year’s awards were Heidelberg, Kodak, Adobe Systems, Utica National Insurance Group, Canon, Verso Paper, Sun Chemical, Hostmann-Steinberg, Komori, and Xerox. Graphic Arts Monthly is the event’s publishing partner.
